About me

I am Barbara Fodor, an artist based in Budapest. I studied art at the Juhász Gyula Faculty of Education at the University of Szeged. I generally work with mixed techniques and I really enjoy collaging. Since moving to the capital, I have also been painting.

Beyond honest and profound self-exploration and self-expression, I hope that my visual world can trigger a flow of thoughts in viewers, helping them delve deeper into self-awareness. My goal is to create value on visual, intellectual, emotional, and material levels alike.

In my work, I strive for spontaneity and intuition, aiming to capture deeper meanings. I create in multiple genres and am also known as a poet. Occasionally, I blend literature with visual art, and I’ve even had poetry performance events. My thesis project was a spatial installation encompassing various art forms.

My favorite painters include Francis Bacon and Egon Schiele, whose work has strongly influenced me, primarily on a conceptual level. Additionally, I greatly appreciate Jean-Michel Basquiat’s raw expression and Joan Miró’s visual playfulness, both of which viewers often recognize in my artwork.

I believe it’s essential for an artist’s identity and body of work to reinforce each other—both together and individually—making them authentic and intriguing. Based on feedback and my career activities so far, I trust that I’m on the right path.
